I am Gill’s oldest sister. I was seven when she was born, and I missed out on a lot of her life growing up. By the time she started secondary school I was at college and then married, and for some strange reason we all relied on Mum for news of the family. I didn’t really start getting to know her properly until George was born. By then, we were living in Troon in Scotland and I started coming down on the train to Plymouth to visit her with my oldest, Iain (who if 37 now) every Easter. We did this for five years while she was living in the St Budeaux house, and then we moved down to Plymouth ourselves in 1998.From Sally MacNaughtan.
